   1-20                         A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
   1-21                                AN ACT
   1-22  relating to the election of and appointments to fill vacancies on
   1-23  the board of directors of certain hospital districts.
   1-24        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
   1-25        SECTION 1.  Chapter 411, Acts of the 58th Legislature,
   1-26  Regular Session, 1963, is amended by adding Section 3A to read as
   1-27  follows:
   1-28        Sec. 3A.  (a)  A director's election shall be held on the
   1-29  first Saturday in May in each year for the election of the
   1-30  appropriate number of successor directors.
   1-31        (b)  A vacancy in the office of director shall be filled for
   1-32  the unexpired term by appointment by the remaining directors.
   1-33        SECTION 2.  Chapter 539, Acts of the 63rd Legislature,
   1-34  Regular Session, 1973, is amended by adding Section 3A to read as
   1-35  follows:
   1-36        Sec. 3A.  (a)  A director's election shall be held on the
   1-37  first Saturday in May in each year for the election of the
   1-38  appropriate number of successor directors.
   1-39        (b)  A vacancy in the office of director shall be filled for
   1-40  the unexpired term by appointment by the remaining directors.
   1-41        SECTION 3.  Chapter 666, Acts of the 64th Legislature, 1975,
   1-42  is amended by adding Section 3A to read as follows:
   1-43        Sec. 3A.  (a)  A director's election shall be held on the
   1-44  first Saturday in May in each year for the election of the
   1-45  appropriate number of successor directors.
   1-46        (b)  A vacancy in the office of director shall be filled for
   1-47  the unexpired term by appointment by the remaining directors.
   1-48        SECTION 4.  Chapter 667, Acts of the 64th Legislature, 1975,
   1-49  is amended by adding Section 3A to read as follows:
   1-50        Sec. 3A.  (a)  A director's election shall be held on the
   1-51  first Saturday in May in each year for the election of the
   1-52  appropriate number of successor directors.
   1-53        (b)  A vacancy in the office of director shall be filled for
   1-54  the unexpired term by appointment by the remaining directors.
   1-55        SECTION 5.  Chapter 668, Acts of the 64th Legislature, 1975,
   1-56  is amended by adding Section 3A to read as follows:
   1-57        Sec. 3A.  (a)  A director's election shall be held on the
   1-58  first Saturday in May in each year for the election of the
   1-59  appropriate number of successor directors.
   1-60        (b)  A vacancy in the office of director shall be filled for
   1-61  the unexpired term by appointment by the remaining directors.
   1-62        SECTION 6.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-63  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-64  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-65  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-66  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-67  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   1-68  passage, and it is so enacted.
