                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to the authority of the Jefferson County Drainage District
    1-3  No. 6 to lease its property.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  Chapter 349, Acts of the 57th Legislature,
    1-6  Regular Session, 1961, is amended by adding Section 11b to read as
    1-7  follows:
    1-8        Sec. 11b.  The Board of Commissioners may lease any of its
    1-9  property, real or personal, to any person.  The lease may contain
   1-10  terms and provisions that the board determines to be advantageous
   1-11  to the District.  The lease may be for any term and may allow a
   1-12  lessee to alter or modify the property, but may not interfere with
   1-13  the concurrent use of the property for drainage and flood control
   1-14  purposes.
   1-15        SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-16  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-17  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-18  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-19  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-20  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   1-21  passage, and it is so enacted.

   1-23        Amend H.B. No. 383 as follows:
   1-24  1)  On line 9, substitute "shall" for "may".
    2-1  2)  On line 11, after "District" and before the period insert:
    2-2  "and to the general public for its use and benefit"
