                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to load and weight limits on roads, highways, bridges, and
    1-3 culverts.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Section 5B(c), Chapter 42, General Laws, Acts of
    1-6 the 41st Legislature, 2nd Called Session, 1929 (Article 6701d-11,
1-7 Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is amended to read as follows:
1-8 (c) This section does not authorize the operation of a
    1-9 vehicle on:
1-10 (1) the national system of interstate and defense
1-11 highways in this state if the weight of the vehicle is <of vehicles
1-12 with a weight> greater than authorized by federal law; or
1-13 (2) a road, highway, bridge, or culvert for which a
1-14 maximum weight and load limit have been established and posted by
1-15 the Texas Transportation Commission or a county commissioners court
1-16 under Section 5-1/2 of this Act, if the gross weight of the vehicle
1-17 and load or the axle and wheel loads are greater than those
1-18 established and posted under that section.
1-19 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the
1-20 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-21 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-22 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-23 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
