By: Hirschi H.B. No. 630 73R2585 DWS-D A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-1 AN ACT 1-2 relating to hand signals for bicycle operators. 1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-4 SECTION 1. Section 70, Uniform Act Regulating Traffic on 1-5 Highways (Article 6701d, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is amended 1-6 to read as follows: 1-7 Sec. 70. Method Of Giving Hand-And-Arm Signals. All signals 1-8 herein required given by hand and arm shall be given from the left 1-9 side of the vehicle in the following manner and such signals shall 1-10 indicate as follows: 1-11 1. Left turn. Hand and arm extended horizontally. 1-12 2. Right turn. Hand and arm extended upward, except 1-13 that a bicycle operator may signal from the right side of the 1-14 vehicle with hand and arm extended horizontally. 1-15 3. Stop or decrease speed. Hand and arm extended 1-16 downward. 1-17 The signals herein required shall be given either by means of 1-18 the hand-and-arm, or by a signal lamp or signal device approved by 1-19 the department. 1-20 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the 1-21 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-22 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-23 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-24 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, 2-1 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its 2-2 passage, and it is so enacted.
