H.B. No. 698 1-1 AN ACT 1-2 relating to the procedures applicable to the registration of motor 1-3 vehicles. 1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-5 SECTION 1. Subsection (g), Section 2a, Chapter 88, General 1-6 Laws, Acts of the 41st Legislature, 2nd Called Session, 1929 1-7 (Article 6675a-2a, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is amended to 1-8 read as follows: 1-9 (g) The county, the county tax collector, a deputy county 1-10 tax collector, and any person acting for or on behalf of a county 1-11 or county tax collector, or a person acting on behalf of the owner 1-12 for purposes of obtaining registration to the vehicle are not 1-13 liable to any person for registering a motor vehicle under this 1-14 section. 1-15 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the 1-16 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-17 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-18 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-19 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, 1-20 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its 1-21 passage, and it is so enacted.
