                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to the use of certain fees for the support of probate
    1-3  courts.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  Section 118.064(b), Local Government Code, is
    1-6  amended to read as follows:
    1-7        (b)  The fee shall be deposited in the general fund of the
    1-8  county to be used for:
    1-9              (1)  the continuing education of the judge and staff of
   1-10  the probate courts, including the payment of travel and related
   1-11  expenses in attending a continuing judicial education activity of
   1-12  an organization accredited by the supreme court for continuing
   1-13  judicial education; <or>
   1-14              (2)  the contribution of the county to fund the
   1-15  compensation required by Section 25.0022, Government Code <Chapter
   1-16  781, Acts of the 68th Legislature, Regular Session, 1983 (Article
   1-17  1969b, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes)>, for the presiding judge of
   1-18  the statutory probate courts;
   1-19              (3)  providing staff for the probate courts; or
   1-20              (4)  other court-related purposes for the support of
   1-21  the probate courts.
   1-22        SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-23  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-24  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
    2-1  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
    2-2  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
    2-3  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
    2-4  passage, and it is so enacted.
