                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to log-in fees charged by a vehicle storage facility.
    1-3        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-4        SECTION 1.  Section 14, Vehicle Storage Facility Act (Article
    1-5  6687-9a, Revised Statutes), is amended to read as follows:
    1-6        Sec. 14.  Fees; Charges.  (a)  The operator of a vehicle
    1-7  storage facility may not charge an owner more than $25 for
    1-8  notification under Section 13 of this article.
    1-9        (b)  The operator of a vehicle storage facility may not
   1-10  charge an owner more than $10 for preservation of a stored motor
   1-11  vehicle.
   1-12        (c)  The owner of a vehicle storage facility may not charge
   1-13  more than $50 for logging in a vehicle.
   1-14        (d)  The operator of a vehicle storage facility may not
   1-15  charge less than $5 or more than $15 for each day or part of a day
   1-16  for storage of a vehicle.
   1-17        (e) <(d)>  The operator of a vehicle storage facility may not
   1-18  charge any additional fees that are similar to notification,
   1-19  preservation, or administrative fees.
   1-20        (f) <(e)>  This section controls over <overs> any conflicting
   1-21  municipal ordinance or charter provision.
   1-22        SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 1993.
   1-23        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-24  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
    2-1  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
    2-2  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
    2-3  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
