Article 4551g, Revised Statutes, is amended to 1-22 read as follows: 1-23 Art. 4551g. Prescription required. From and after the 1-24 effective date of this Act every dentist requiring the making, 1-25 fabricating, processing, constructing, producing, reproducing, 1-26 duplicating, repairing, relining, or fixing of any full or partial 1-27 denture, any fixed or removable dental bridge or appliance, any 1-28 dental plate or plates of false teeth, any artificial dental 1-29 restoration or any substitute or corrective device or appliance for 1-30 the human teeth, gums, jaws, mouth, alveolar process, or any part 1-31 thereof, shall prepare and deliver a prescription or work-order for 1-32 same directed to the person, firm, or association, or other 1-33 business entity which is to perform such work or service and such 1-34 work-order or prescription shall contain (1) the signature and 1-35 Texas dental license number of such dentist; (2) the date such was 1-36 signed; (3) the name and address of the patient for whom the act 1-37 or service is ordered; and (4) a description of the kind and type 1-38 of act, service, or material ordered. It shall be the duty of each 1-39 dentist to keep a copy of each work-order or prescription for a 1-40 period of two years, and maintain a separate file therefor in his 1-41 dental office which shall be available for inspection by the 1-42 officers, agents, or employees of the Texas State Board of Dental 1-43 Examiners. In addition, a dentist shall label a removable dental 1-44 prosthesis fabricated in this state by the dentist or under a 1-45 work-order or prescription prepared by the dentist as provided by 1-46 rules adopted by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. 1-47 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the 1-48 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-49 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-50 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-51 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, 1-52 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its 1-53 passage, and it is so enacted. 1-54 * * * * * 1-55 Austin, 1-56 Texas 1-57 May 20, 1993 1-58 Hon.
