   1-21                         A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
   1-22                                AN ACT
   1-23  relating to the gloves used in a boxing contest, match, or
   1-24  exhibition.
   1-25        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
   1-26        SECTION 1.  The Texas Boxing and Wrestling Act (Article
   1-27  8501-1, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes) is amended by adding Section
   1-28  6A to read as follows:
   1-29        Sec. 6A.  BOXING GLOVES.  In any boxing contest, match, or
   1-30  exhibition conducted in this state, the contestants shall wear
   1-31  eight-ounce boxing gloves, unless the commissioner by rule requires
   1-32  or permits the contestants to wear heavier gloves.
   1-33        SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect December 1, 1993.
   1-34        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-35  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-36  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-37  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-38  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
