                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to paydays for employees of the Texas Department of Human
    1-3  Services.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  Section 2, Article 6826, Revised Statutes, is
    1-6  amended by amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (c) to
    1-7  read as follows:
    1-8        (a)  Subsection (b) of this <This> section applies to an
    1-9  employee of the Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental
   1-10  Retardation, the State Department of Highways and Public
   1-11  Transportation, <the Texas Department of Human Services,> the Texas
   1-12  Employment Commission, or any other state agency designated by the
   1-13  comptroller.
   1-14        (c)  An employee of the Texas Department of Human Services is
   1-15  entitled to be paid the person's employment compensation twice a
   1-16  month.
   1-17        SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 1993.
   1-18        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-19  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-20  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-21  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-22  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
