By Earley H.B. No. 1733 Substitute the following for H.B. No. 1733: By Earley C.S.H.B. No. 1733 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-1 AN ACT 1-2 relating to the duties of the Texas Engineering Extension Service. 1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-4 SECTION 1. Section 86.16(a), Education Code, is amended to 1-5 read as follows: 1-6 Section 86.16. Firemen's Training School. 1-7 (a) The Texas A&M University shall conduct and maintain a 1-8 firemen's training school through the Texas Engineering Extension 1-9 Service as a unit of the university system in the manner deemed 1-10 expedient and advisable by the system's board of regents. The 1-11 Texas Engineering Extension Service shall serve as the recognized 1-12 statewide fire and rescue training agency liaison to the National 1-13 Fire Academy. In their capacity as the National Fire Academy 1-14 liaison, the extension service shall distribute National Fire 1-15 Academy student manuals on request to associations, fire 1-16 departments, state agencies, and institutions of higher education 1-17 which meet National Fire Academy qualifications. 1-18 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the 1-19 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-20 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-21 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-22 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, 1-23 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its 2-1 passage, and it is so enacted.
