By Earley H.B. No. 1733 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-1 AN ACT 1-2 relating to the duties of the Texas Engineering Extension Service. 1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-4 SECTION 1. Section 86.16(a) of the Education Code is amended 1-5 to read as follows: 1-6 Sec. 86.16. Firemen's Training School. (a) The Texas A&M 1-7 University System shall conduct and maintain a firemen's training 1-8 school through the Texas Engineering Extension Service as a unit of 1-9 the university system in the manner deemed expedient and advisable 1-10 by the system's board of regents. The Texas Engineering Extension 1-11 Service is designated as the agency of the state to conduct fire 1-12 protection, rescue, leadership, and management training on a 1-13 statewide basis to paid and volunteer firefighters, and shall serve 1-14 as the recognized statewide fire and rescue training agency liaison 1-15 to the National Fire Academy. 1-16 SECTION 2. EMERGENCY. The importance of this legislation 1-17 and the crowded conditions of the calendars in both houses create 1-18 an emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-19 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-20 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, 1-21 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its 1-22 passage, and it is so enacted.
