By: Horn H.B. No. 1758 73R6082 JD-D A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-1 AN ACT 1-2 relating to reports of certain traffic accidents. 1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-4 SECTION 1. Section 44, Uniform Act Regulating Traffic on 1-5 Highways (Article 6701d, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is amended 1-6 by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: 1-7 (d) A law enforcement officer who, after August 31, 1993, 1-8 investigates a motor vehicle accident not resulting in injury to or 1-9 death of any person or in damage to the property of any one person 1-10 to an apparent extent of at least Five Hundred Dollars ($500) is 1-11 prohibited from forwarding a written report of that accident to the 1-12 Department. 1-13 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1993. 1-14 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the 1-15 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-16 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-17 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-18 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
