A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to the composition of certain state representative
1-3 districts.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Sections 52 and 53, Article II, Chapter 2, Acts
1-6 of the 72nd Legislature, 3rd Called Session, 1992, are revised to
1-7 read as follows:
1-8 Sec. 52. District 52 is composed of Williamson County tracts
1-9 0201.01, 0201.02, 0201.03, 0201.04, 0204.01, 0204.02, 0204.03,
1-10 0204.04, 0204.05, 0205.01, 0205.02, 0205.03, 0205.04, 0206.01,
1-11 0206.02, 0207.01, 0207.02, 0207.03, 0208.98, 0209, 0210, 0211,
1-12 0212.01, 0212.02, 0212.03, 0213, 0214.01, 0214.02, 0214.03,
1-13 0215.01, 0215.02, 0215.03, 0216, 0217.79, 0217.80, 0217.81,

2-3 Sec. 53. District 53 is composed of Blanco, Burnet,
2-4 Gillespie, Kendall, and Kerr counties; Williamson County tracts
2-5 0203.01, 0203.02, 0203.03, 0203.04, 0203.05, 0203.06, and 0203.07;
2-6 and that part of Williamson County tract 0202 included in block
2-7 group 4 and blocks 304, 309, 310, 312, 313, 314, 315, 316, 317,
2-8 318, 319, 320, 321, 322, 323, 324, 325, 326, 327, 328, 329, 330,
2-9 331, 332, 333, 334, 335, 336, 337, 343, 344, 345, 347, 349, 351,

2-25 SECTION 2. Section 1, Article III, Chapter 2, Acts of the
2-26 72nd Legislature, 3rd Called Session, 1992, is amended by adding
2-27 Subsection (d) to read as follows:
3-1 (d) In this Act, "block group" means all the blocks in a
3-2 tract or BNA that have the same first digit, according to the
3-3 Redistricting Map Data Base for the State of Texas described by
3-4 Subsection (a) of this section. A block group is designated by the
3-5 common first digit of all the blocks in the block group. For
3-6 example, blocks numbered 301, 342A, 342B, and 399Z located in a
3-7 single tract would all belong to the block group 3 for that tract,
3-8 and all the blocks in that tract beginning with a 3 would
3-9 constitute block group 3.
3-10 SECTION 3. The change in house districts made by this Act
3-11 does not affect the members or districts of the Texas House of
3-12 Representatives of the 73rd Legislature.
3-13 SECTION 4. The importance of this legislation and the
3-14 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
3-15 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
3-16 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
3-17 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
3-18 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
3-19 passage, and it is so enacted.
