    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to fees of office for and reimbursement of expenses of
    1-3  directors of underground water conservation districts.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  Section 52.113, Water Code, is amended to read as
    1-6  follows:
    1-7        Sec. 52.113.  Fees of Office; Reimbursement for Expenses
    1-8  <Compensation of Directors>.  (a)  A director is entitled to
    1-9  receive fees of office <compensation> of not more than $100 a day
   1-10  for each day the director actually spends performing the duties of
   1-11  a director, but the fees of office <compensation> may not exceed
   1-12  $6,000 in a year.
   1-13        (b)  <$500 for any one month.>  Each director is also
   1-14  entitled to receive reimbursement of actual expenses reasonably and
   1-15  necessarily incurred while engaging in activities on the behalf of
   1-16  <in> the district.
   1-17        (c)  To receive fees of office or reimbursement for expenses,
   1-18  a director must file with the district a verified statement showing
   1-19  the number of days actually spent in the service of the district
   1-20  and a general description of the duties performed for each day of
   1-21  service.
   1-22        SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-23  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
    2-1  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
    2-2  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
    2-3  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
    2-4  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
    2-5  passage, and it is so enacted.
