1-19 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-20 AN ACT
1-21 relating to fees of office for and reimbursement of expenses of
1-22 directors of underground water conservation districts.
1-23 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-24 SECTION 1. Section 52.113, Water Code, is amended to read as
1-25 follows:
1-26 Sec. 52.113. Fees of Office; Reimbursement for Expenses
1-27 <Compensation of Directors>. (a) A director is entitled to
1-28 receive fees of office <compensation> of not more than $100 a day
1-29 for each day the director actually spends performing the duties of
1-30 a director, but the fees of office <compensation> may not exceed
1-31 $6,000 in a year.
1-32 (b) <$500 for any one month.> Each director is also
1-33 entitled to receive reimbursement of actual expenses reasonably and
1-34 necessarily incurred while engaging in activities on the behalf of
1-35 <in> the district.
1-36 (c) To receive fees of office or reimbursement for expenses,
1-37 a director must file with the district a verified statement showing
1-38 the number of days actually spent in the service of the district
1-39 and a general description of the duties performed for each day of
1-40 service.
1-41 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the
1-42 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-43 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-44 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-45 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
1-46 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
1-47 passage, and it is so enacted.
