                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to the general election for officers of the Tarrant County
    1-3  Water Control and Improvement District No. 1.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 51, Water Code, is amended
    1-6  by adding Section 51.0733 to read as follows:
    1-7        Sec. 51.0733.  ELECTION FOR CERTAIN DISTRICTS.  (a)  The
    1-8  Tarrant County Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 shall
    1-9  hold its general election for officers on the same day as the
   1-10  general election for officers of the municipality with the greatest
   1-11  population, according to the most recent federal decennial census,
   1-12  that is located in the district.
   1-13        (b)  The district shall, to the greatest extent possible, use
   1-14  the same election precincts and polling places as the municipality
   1-15  described by Subsection (a) of this section.
   1-16        SECTION 2.  (a)  The governing body of the Tarrant County
   1-17  Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 shall adjust the terms
   1-18  of office to conform to the election date provided by Section 1 of
   1-19  this Act.
   1-20        (b)  The term of a member of the district's governing body
   1-21  holding office on the effective date of this Act expires on the
   1-22  date the governing body sets under Subsection (a) of this section.
   1-23        SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect January 1, 1995.
   1-24        SECTION 4.  The importance of this legislation and the
    2-1  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
    2-2  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
    2-3  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
    2-4  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
