   1-19                         A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
   1-20                                AN ACT
   1-21  relating to the authority of the Texas Partnership for Economic
   1-22  Development.
   1-23        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
   1-24        SECTION 1.  Section 481.357, Government Code, is amended by
   1-25  adding Subsection (f) to read as follows:
   1-26        (f)  The partnership board may organize the partnership as a
   1-27  nonprofit corporation under the Texas Non-Profit Corporation Act
   1-28  (Article 1396-1.01 et seq., Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes) to carry
   1-29  out the powers and duties of the partnership.
   1-30        SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-31  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-32  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-33  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-34  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-35  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   1-36  passage, and it is so enacted.
