                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to the approval and certification of certain health
    1-3  organizations by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  Section 3.06, Medical Practice Act (Article
    1-6  4495b, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is amended by adding a new
    1-7  subsection (g) to read as follows:
    1-8        (g)  Nothing in this Act shall be construed to prohibit a
    1-9  non-profit clinic serving primarily a medically underserved area
   1-10  (as defined by Article 4495b (d) (5)(D) (vi) Vernon's Texas Civil
   1-11  Statutes) which is operated by a non-profit organization from
   1-12  employing a physician to provide services at such clinics.
   1-13        SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-14  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-15  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-16  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-17  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
