A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to abolishing statutory county courts and creating
1-3 additional judicial districts.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Chapter 25, Government Code, is repealed.
1-6 SECTION 2. Subchapter C, Chapter 24, Government Code, is
1-7 amended by adding Sections 24.523-24.5937 to read as follows:
1-8 Sec. 24.523. 378TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (ANDERSON COUNTY). The
1-9 378th Judicial District is composed of Anderson County.

15-3 SECTION 3. Section 51.702, Government Code, is repealed.
15-4 SECTION 4. Section 74.0911, Government Code, is repealed.
15-5 SECTION 5. The local administrative judge in each county
15-6 shall transfer all cases pending in that county's statutory county
15-7 courts abolished by this Act to a district or county court in that
15-8 county with jurisdiction of the case. When a case is transferred
15-9 from one court to another as provided by this section, all
15-10 processes, writs, bonds, recognizances, or other obligations issued
15-11 from the transferring court are returnable to the court to which
15-12 the case is transferred as if originally issued by that court. The
15-13 obligees in all bonds and recognizances taken in and for a court
15-14 from which a case is transferred, and all witnesses summoned to
15-15 appear in a court from which a case is transferred, are required to
15-16 appear before the court to which the case is transferred as if
15-17 originally required to appear before the court to which the
15-18 transfer is made.
15-19 SECTION 6. This Act takes effect September 1, 1993.
15-20 SECTION 7. The importance of this legislation and the
15-21 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
15-22 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
15-23 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
15-24 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
