A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to the authority of the Texas Department of Agriculture to
1-3 sell publications and collect publication fees.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Chapter 12, Agriculture Code, is amended by
1-6 adding Section 12.031 to read as follows:
1-7 Sec. 12.031. Publications and Publication Fees. (a) The
1-8 department may provide or sell information, including books,
1-9 magazines, photographs, prints, and bulletins, to the public
1-10 concerning agriculture, horticulture, or related industries.
1-11 (b) The department may receive royalties on department-owned
1-12 materials that are sold or supplied to others by the department for
1-13 publication.
1-14 (c) The department may enter into contractual agreements for
1-15 publication of information concerning agriculture, horticulture, or
1-16 related industries.
1-17 (d) Money received under this section shall be deposited in
1-18 the State Treasury to the credit of the fund from which expenses
1-19 for the publication were paid.
1-20 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately.
1-21 SECTION 3. The importance of the legislation and the crowded
1-22 condition of the calendars in both houses create an emergency and
1-23 an imperative public necessity that the constitutional rule
2-1 requiring bills to be read on three several days in each house be
2-2 suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
