1-19 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-20 AN ACT
1-21 relating to the authority of the Texas Department of Agriculture to
1-22 sell publications and collect publication fees.
1-23 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-24 SECTION 1. Chapter 12, Agriculture Code, is amended by
1-25 adding Section 12.031 to read as follows:
1-26 Sec. 12.031. Publications and Publication Fees. (a) The
1-27 department may provide or sell information, including books,
1-28 magazines, photographs, prints, and bulletins, to the public
1-29 concerning agriculture, horticulture, or related industries.
1-30 (b) The department may receive royalties on department-owned
1-31 materials that are sold or supplied to others by the department for
1-32 publication.
1-33 (c) The department may enter into contractual agreements for
1-34 publication of information concerning agriculture, horticulture, or
1-35 related industries.
1-36 (d) Money received under this section shall be deposited in
1-37 the State Treasury to the credit of the fund from which expenses
1-38 for the publication were paid.
1-39 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately.
1-40 SECTION 3. The importance of the legislation and the crowded
1-41 condition of the calendars in both houses create an emergency and
1-42 an imperative public necessity that the constitutional rule
1-43 requiring bills to be read on three several days in each house be
1-44 suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
