                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to children residing in a household.
    1-3        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-4        SECTION 1.  Section 71.01(3), Family Code, is amended to read
    1-5  as follows:
    1-6              (3)  "Family" includes individuals related by
    1-7  consanguinity or affinity, as determined under Article 5996h,
    1-8  Revised Statutes, individuals who are former spouses of each other,
    1-9  individuals who are the biological parents of the same child,
   1-10  without regard to marriage, and a foster child and foster parent,
   1-11  whether or not those individuals reside together, and any other
   1-12  child who resides in the household without regard to whether the
   1-13  child is related to any other member of the household.
   1-14        SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 1993.
   1-15        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-16  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-17  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-18  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-19  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
