1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Sections 89 through 98, Article II, Chapter 2,
1-6 Acts of the 72nd Legislature, 3rd Called Session, 1992, are revised
1-7 to read as follows:
1-8 Sec. 89. District 89 is composed of Tarrant County tracts

8-21 SECTION 2. Section 1, Article III, Chapter 2, Acts of the
8-22 72nd Legislature, 3rd Called Session, 1992, is amended by adding
8-23 Subsection (d) to read as follows:
8-24 (d) In this Act, "block group" means all the blocks in a
8-25 tract or BNA that have the same first digit, according to the
8-26 Redistricting Map Data Base for the State of Texas described by
8-27 Subsection (a) of this section. A block group is designated by the
9-1 common first digit of all the blocks in the block group. For
9-2 example, blocks numbered 301, 342A, 342B, and 399Z located in a
9-3 single tract would all belong to the block group 3 for that tract,
9-4 and all the blocks in that tract beginning with a 3 would
9-5 constitute block group 3.
9-6 SECTION 3. The change in house districts made by this Act
9-7 does not affect the members or districts of the Texas House of
9-8 Representatives of the 73rd Legislature.
9-9 SECTION 4. The importance of this legislation and the
9-10 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
9-11 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
9-12 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
9-13 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
9-14 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
9-15 passage, and it is so enacted.
