                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to the terms of court and places for holding court of
    1-3  justice of the peace courts in counties having a population less
    1-4  than 30,000.
    1-5        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-6        SECTION 1.  Section 27.051(f), Government Code, is amended to
    1-7  read as follows:
    1-8        (f)  A justice of the peace of a precinct in a county with a
    1-9  population of less than 30,000 may hold court in the county
   1-10  courthouse, or another facility provided pursuant to Section
   1-11  292.002(a), Local Government Code, for that purpose.  If requested
   1-12  by the justice, the commissioners court of the county may provide
   1-13  and furnish a suitable place in the courthouse or another facility
   1-14  provided pursuant to Section 292.002(a), Local Government Code, for
   1-15  the justice to hold court.
   1-16        SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 1993.
   1-17        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-18  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-19  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-20  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-21  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
