1-20 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-21 AN ACT
1-22 relating to the terms of court and places for holding court of
1-23 justice of the peace courts in counties having a population less
1-24 than 30,000.
1-25 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-26 SECTION 1. Section 27.051(f), Government Code, is amended to
1-27 read as follows:
1-28 (f) A justice of the peace of a precinct in a county with a
1-29 population of less than 30,000 may hold court in the county
1-30 courthouse, or another facility provided pursuant to Section
1-31 292.002(a), Local Government Code, for that purpose. If requested
1-32 by the justice, the commissioners court of the county may provide
1-33 and furnish a suitable place in the courthouse or another facility
1-34 provided pursuant to Section 292.002(a), Local Government Code, for
1-35 the justice to hold court.
1-36 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1993.
1-37 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the
1-38 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-39 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-40 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-41 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
