                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to public disclosure of names of applicants for chief
1-3 executive officer of a school district
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5 SECTION 1. Section 3(a), Article 6252-17A, Vernon's Texas
1-6 Civil Statutes, is amended to read as follows:
1-7 (22) curriculum objectives and test items developed by educational
1-8 institutions that are funded wholly or in part by state revenue and
    1-9  test items developed by licensing agencies or governmental bodies;
   1-10 <and>
1-11 (23) the names of applicants for the position of chief
1-12 executive officer of institutions of higher education, except that
1-13 the governing body of the institution of higher education must give
1-14 public notice of the name or names of the finalists being
1-15 considered for the position at least 21 days prior to the meeting
1-16 at which the final action or vote is to be taken on the employment
   1-17 of the individual; and
1-18 (24) the names of applicants for the position of chief
1-19 executive officer of school districts, except that the governing
1-20 body of the school district must give public notice of the name or
1-21 names of the finalists being considered for the position at least
1-22 10 days prior to the meeting at which final action or vote is to be
1-23 taken on the employment of the individual.
2-1 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the
2-2 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
2-3 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
2-4 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
2-5 days in each house be suspended, and this Act take effect and be in
2-6 force from and after its passage, and it is so enacted.
