                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to the contracting for, and establishment and continuance
    1-3  of, certain retirement programs for the benefit of employees of
    1-4  municipal hospital authorities.
    1-5        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-6        SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 262, Health and Safety
    1-7  Code, is amended by adding Section 262.035 to read as follows:
    1-8        Sec. 262.035.  If any authority is created by the governing
    1-9  body of a municipality which has established a municipal retirement
   1-10  system pursuant to Chapter 451, Acts of the 72nd Legislature,
   1-11  Regular Session, 1991 (Article 6243n, Vernon's Texas Civil
   1-12  Statutes), then the board of such authority shall have the
   1-13  authority to, and shall provide retirement benefits for, employees
   1-14  of such authority by participating in and making all contributions
   1-15  required or authorized by the municipal retirement system
   1-16  established by such municipality pursuant to Chapter 451, Acts of
   1-17  the 72nd Legislature, Regular Session, 1991 (Article 6243n,
   1-18  Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes).
   1-19        SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect July 1, 1993.
   1-20        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-21  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-22  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-23  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
    2-1  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
