    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to the terms of directors of the Seis Lagos Utility
    1-3  District.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  Section 5(e), Chapter 527, Acts of the 71st
    1-6  Legislature, Regular Session, 1989, is amended to read as follows:
    1-7        (e)  The district shall hold an election in the district on
    1-8  the first Saturday in May of each year to elect the appropriate
    1-9  number of directors to the board.  Directors serve staggered
   1-10  two-year terms with the terms of two directors expiring each
   1-11  odd-numbered year and the terms of three directors expiring each
   1-12  even-numbered year.  Directors serve  <Beginning with the first
   1-13  Saturday in May 1990, and on the first Saturday in May of each
   1-14  second year after that date, five directors shall be elected at an
   1-15  election called and held for that purpose and shall serve for
   1-16  two-year terms and> until their successors are elected and have
   1-17  qualified.
   1-18        SECTION 2.  At the 1994 directors' election held by the Seis
   1-19  Lagos Utility District, five directors shall be elected.  Those
   1-20  directors shall draw lots for terms of office so that two directors
   1-21  serve one-year terms and three directors serve two-year terms.
   1-22  Successor directors serve staggered two-year terms.
   1-23        SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 1993.
   1-24        SECTION 4.  The importance of this legislation and the
    2-1  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
    2-2  emergency   and   an   imperative   public   necessity   that   the
    2-3  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
    2-4  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
