A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to the district courts and juvenile board of El Paso
1-3 County.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Section 152.0771(a), Human Resources Code, is
1-6 amended to read as follows:
1-7 (a) The juvenile board of El Paso County is composed of:
1-8 (1) the county judge;
1-9 (2) each family district court judge;
1-10 (3) each juvenile court judge; and
1-11 (4) up to five judges on the "El Paso Council of
1-12 Judges" to be elected by a majority vote of said council <the
1-13 county judge and the district judges in El Paso County>.
1-14 SECTION 2. Sections 152.0771(b), (g), and (h), Human
1-15 Resources Code, are repealed.
1-16 SECTION 3. Sections 24.167 and 24.635, Government Code, are
1-17 amended to read as follows:
1-18 Sec. 24.167. 327TH <65th> JUDICIAL DISTRICT (EL PASO
1-19 COUNTY). (a) The 327th <65th> Judicial District is composed of El
1-20 Paso County.
1-21 (b) The terms of the 327th <65th> District Court begin on
1-22 the first Mondays in February, April, June, September, October, and
1-23 December.
2-1 (c) Section 24.136, relating to the 34th District Court,
2-2 contains provisions applicable to both that court and the 327th
2-3 <65th> District Court.
2-4 Sec. 24.635. 65TH <327th> JUDICIAL DISTRICT (EL PASO
2-5 COUNTY). The 65th <327th> Judicial District is composed of El Paso
2-6 County.
2-7 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 1993, except
2-8 that Section 3 of this Act takes effect September 1, 1996.
2-9 SECTION 5. The importance of this legislation and the
2-10 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
2-11 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
2-12 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
2-13 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
2-14 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
2-15 passage, and it is so enacted.
