A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to El Paso County Juvenile Board and to El Paso Family
1-3 District Court.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Section 152.0771(a), Human Resources Code, is
1-6 amended to read as follows:
1-7 (a) The juvenile board of El Paso County is composed of:
1-8 (1) The county judge;
1-9 (2) Each family district court judge;
1-10 (3) Each juvenile court judge;
1-11 (4) Up to five judges on the "El Paso Council of
1-12 Judges" to be elected by a majority vote of said council;
1-13 <(a) The juvenile board of El Paso County is composed of the
1-14 county judge and the district judges in El Paso County.>
1-15 SECTION 2. Section 152.0771(b)(g) and (h), Human Resources
1-16 Code, is repealed.
1-17 <(b) The commissioners court shall pay the district judges
1-18 on the juvenile board additional monthly compensation of $75 for
1-19 performing the duties prescribed by Section 152.0773.>
1-20 <(g) The commissioners court shall provide the necessary
1-21 funds to pay the salaries and expenses of the juvenile probation
1-22 personnel.>
1-23 <(h) Sections 152.0002, 152.0003, 152.0004, 152.0005,
2-1 152.0006, 152.0007, and 152.0008(a) do not apply to the juvenile
2-2 board of El Paso County.>
2-3 SECTION 3. Sections 24.167 and 24.635, Government Code, is
2-4 amended to read as follows:
2-5 Sec. 24.167. 327th <65th> Judicial District (El Paso
2-6 County).
2-7 (a) The 327th <65th> Judicial District is composed of El
2-8 Paso County.
2-9 (b) The terms of the 327th <65th> District Court begin on
2-10 the first Mondays in February, April, June, September, October and
2-11 December.
2-12 (c) Section 24.136, relating to the 34th District Court,
2-13 contains provisions applicable to both that court and the 327th
2-14 <65th> District Court.
2-15 Sec. 24.635. 65th <327th> Judicial District (El Paso
2-16 County).
2-17 The 65th <327th> Judicial District is composed of El Paso
2-18 County.
2-19 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 1993, except
2-20 Section 3 of this Act takes effect September 1, 1996.
2-21 SECTION 5. The importance of this legislation and the
2-22 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
2-23 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
2-24 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
2-25 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
3-1 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
3-2 passage, and it is so enacted.
