    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to the jurisdiction of the statutory county court in
    1-3  Panola County.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  Section 25.1852(a), Government Code, as amended
    1-6  by Chapters 564 and 746, Acts of the 72nd Legislature, Regular
    1-7  Session, 1991, is amended to read as follows:
    1-8        (a)  In addition to the jurisdiction provided by Section
    1-9  25.0003 and other law, and notwithstanding any law granting
   1-10  exclusive jurisdiction to the district court, a county court at law
   1-11  in Panola County has<:>
   1-12              <(1)  concurrent with the county court, the probate
   1-13  jurisdiction provided by general law for county courts; and>
   1-14              <(2)>  concurrent jurisdiction with the district court
   1-15  <in:>
   1-16                    <(A)  civil cases in which the matter in
   1-17  controversy exceeds $500, but does not exceed $100,000, excluding
   1-18  interest;>
   1-19                    <(B)  appeals of final rulings and decisions of
   1-20  the Texas Workers' Compensation Commission, regardless of the
   1-21  amount in controversy;>
   1-22                    <(C)  family law cases and proceedings; and>
   1-23                    <(D)  felony cases to accept guilty pleas and to
   1-24  conduct probation revocation hearings>.
    2-1        SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 1993.
    2-2        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
    2-3  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
    2-4  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
    2-5  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
    2-6  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
