   1-15                      HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
   1-16        WHEREAS, State law (Section 4.10, Article 601b, Vernon's
   1-17  Texas Civil Statutes) specifies those persons eligible for burial
   1-18  in the State Cemetery and authorizes the legislature to grant
   1-19  eligibility to other persons through adoption of a concurrent
   1-20  resolution; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Ronald G. Jackson, executive director of the Texas
   1-22  Youth Commission, desires to be buried in the State Cemetery; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson's long and illustrious record of service
   1-24  to the State of Texas began when he joined the Texas Youth Council
   1-25  in 1965; after working at the West Texas Children's Home in Pyote,
   1-26  he became director of the Statewide Reception and Diagnostic Center
   1-27  in Brownwood in 1970 and superintendent of Brownwood State School
   1-28  the following year; and
   1-29        WHEREAS, Since 1973, this dedicated and hardworking
   1-30  individual has rendered sterling service as executive director of
   1-31  the Texas Youth Commission; and
   1-32        WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson continues to meet the challenges of his
   1-33  office with the same high levels of devotion, energy, and
   1-34  intelligence that have characterized his service to the state
   1-35  throughout his lengthy career; now, therefore, be it
   1-36        RESOLVED, That the 73rd Legislature of the State of Texas
   1-37  hereby authorize the burial of Ronald G. Jackson in the State
   1-38  Cemetery, provided proper  application  for  assignment  of  burial
   1-39  space is made to the General Services Commission as required by
   1-40  law.
