No. 59 73R5059 SRD-D CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, Subsection (b), Section 47.0182, of the Parks and 1-2 Wildlife Code, enacted in 1991, provides that no person may ship 1-3 finfish in individual packages that contain more than one species 1-4 of aquatic life; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The implementation of this requirement has proven an 1-6 unanticipated hardship for wholesale seafood and trucking companies 1-7 in South Texas, particularly with regard to the importation and 1-8 distribution of fish caught in Mexico; and 1-9 WHEREAS, The situation warrants a need for the Texas 1-10 Legislature to thoroughly examine the ramifications of continued 1-11 enforcement of this law and to study other possible regulatory 1-12 alternatives governing the shipping of aquatic products; now, 1-13 therefore, be it 1-14 RESOLVED, That the 73rd Legislature of the State of Texas 1-15 hereby request the Parks and Wildlife Department to refrain from 1-16 enforcement of Subsection (b), Section 47.0182, of the Parks and 1-17 Wildlife Code in Cameron County until this legislature has had an 1-18 opportunity to conduct hearings on the subject; and, be it further 1-19 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be 1-20 forwarded to the executive director of the Parks and Wildlife 1-21 Department and to the chair and members of the Parks and Wildlife 1-22 Commission.
