                                 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Brenham State School is nationally recognized as
    1-2  consistently providing the highest quality of services for citizens
    1-3  of Texas with mental retardation/developmental disabilities since
    1-4  it opened in 1974; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, The administration and staff had the foresight to
    1-6  pursue the continuous improvement of quality services for people
    1-7  with mental retardation/developmental disabilities as is evidenced
    1-8  by the fact that it was the first state facility in Texas to be
    1-9  certified by the nationally recognized American Council for People
   1-10  with Developmental Disabilities in 1976; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Continuous certification under the most stringent
   1-12  standards by the American Council for People with Mental
   1-13  Retardation/Developmental Disabilities has been maintained since
   1-14  1976; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, The Brenham State School has consistently maintained
   1-16  its certification as a licensed intermediate care facility for
   1-17  people with mental retardation/developmental disabilities since
   1-18  inception of the federal regulations in the 1970s; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, The Brenham State School has maintained this level
   1-20  of service excellence in a most cost-efficient and
   1-21  program-effective manner benefiting all Texans; now, therefore, be
   1-22  it
   1-23        RESOLVED, That the 73rd Legislature of the State of Texas
   1-24  commend the staff and administration of the Brenham State School
    2-1  for their numerous contributions and unrelenting perseverance in
    2-2  the delivery of quality services to citizens of the State of Texas
    2-3  with mental retardation/developmental disabilities; and, be it
    2-4  further
    2-5        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-6  prepared for prominent display at the Brenham State School as an
    2-7  expression of high regard by the Legislature of the State of Texas.
