No. 103 73R7203 KMP-D CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas Legislature is proud to congratulate Jane 1-2 Meredith Wolf on being named Midland's Lucy Mashburn Woman of the 1-3 Year by Altrusa International, Inc.; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Ms. Wolf, the executive director of United Way of 1-5 Midland, received this award in recognition of her long and 1-6 distinguished record of community service and her commitment to 1-7 making Midland a better place in which to work, live, and learn; 1-8 and 1-9 WHEREAS, Educated at Randolph-Macon Woman's College, this 1-10 exceptional Texan also attended Southern Methodist University and 1-11 The University of Texas of the Permian Basin; before taking the 1-12 helm of the United Way of Midland in 1989, she was employed as 1-13 legal administrator for the Cotton Bledsoe Tighe and Dawson law 1-14 firm; and 1-15 WHEREAS, A former president of the United Way of Midland, 1-16 Ms. Wolf has served as president and budget chairperson for Casa de 1-17 Amigos, and her financial expertise has proven invaluable to such 1-18 local organizations as the Hospice of Midland and Junior League, 1-19 Inc.; and 1-20 WHEREAS, This talented and dedicated woman has worked with 1-21 many business and commerce associations, including the Midland 1-22 Chamber of Commerce, which she has served as a director, and the 1-23 Midland Convention and Visitors Bureau, which she has served as 1-24 advisory council chairperson; she also has worked with the County 2-1 Airport Zoning Board and has played a key role in the activities of 2-2 the Midland Community Trust and the Permian Basin Planning 2-3 Commission; and 2-4 WHEREAS, Firmly committed to improving the quality of 2-5 education in this state, Ms. Wolf maintains lifetime membership in 2-6 the Parent Teacher Association and is a member of the Midland 2-7 Independent School District's gifted and talented program advisory 2-8 committee; and 2-9 WHEREAS, Despite her many civic and professional activities, 2-10 this extraordinary woman is above all else a devoted mother who 2-11 takes great pride in the accomplishments of her two daughters, 2-12 Laura, who currently practices law in Austin, and Katherine, who 2-13 recently was married in Houston; active in her local community of 2-14 faith as well, Ms. Wolf attends St. Nicholas Episcopal Church; and 2-15 WHEREAS, The many outstanding achievements of this fine 2-16 citizen are indeed worthy of special legislative recognition; now, 2-17 therefore, be it 2-18 RESOLVED, That the 73rd Legislature of the State of Texas 2-19 hereby congratulate Jane Meredith Wolf on being named Midland's 2-20 Lucy Mashburn Woman of the Year and on her many contributions to 2-21 the community of Midland and the State of Texas; and, be it further 2-22 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-23 prepared for Ms. Wolf as an expression of highest regard by the 2-24 Legislature of the State of Texas.
