H.C.R. No. 119 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas State Museum of History in Arlington is a 1-2 popular educational attraction that draws thousands of visitors to 1-3 tour its fine exhibits each year; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Conveniently located in the Dallas-Fort Worth 1-5 Metroplex and set amid a host of unique cultural and recreational 1-6 opportunities available in the dynamic city of Arlington, the 1-7 museum serves as an important statewide resource for the 1-8 preservation of Texas historical artifacts; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Since its founding 10 years ago, the museum has 1-10 experienced steady growth, and it continues to expand with each 1-11 passing year to keep pace with the increasing interest of Texans in 1-12 the rich frontier heritage and spirit of the Lone Star State; and 1-13 WHEREAS, The Texas State Museum of History has established a 1-14 widespread reputation for excellence throughout the state for the 1-15 valuable role it plays as a coordinating museum for more than 400 1-16 museums in Texas and as a goodwill ambassador to museums outside 1-17 the borders of the state; and 1-18 WHEREAS, The museum also offers a unique program of education 1-19 in its Children's Museum School and has expanded the knowledge and 1-20 interest of many Texas schoolchildren in the history of their state 1-21 through its active involvement in the public school system; and 1-22 WHEREAS, For 10 years, the Texas State Museum of History has 1-23 helped to preserve and showcase our state's legacy for many 1-24 appreciative travelers, and it is indeed deserving of special 2-1 recognition for its continuing contributions in this regard; now, 2-2 therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the 73rd Legislature of the State of Texas 2-4 hereby declare the Texas State Museum of History in Arlington the 2-5 official state history museum of Texas and commend this fine 2-6 institution for its exceptional efforts in sustaining the bountiful 2-7 cultural and historical heritage of this state so that it may be 2-8 enjoyed by generations of Texans to come; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-10 prepared for the Texas State Museum of History as an expression of 2-11 high regard by the Legislature of the State of Texas. 2-12 high regard by the Legislature of the State of Texas. 2-13 Grusendorf 2-14 H.C.R.
