   1-15                      HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
   1-16        WHEREAS, The Texas State Museum of History in Arlington is a
   1-17  popular educational attraction that draws thousands of visitors to
   1-18  tour its fine exhibits each year; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Conveniently located in the Dallas-Fort Worth
   1-20  Metroplex and set amid a host of unique cultural and recreational
   1-21  opportunities available in the dynamic city of Arlington, the
   1-22  museum serves as an important statewide resource for the
   1-23  preservation of Texas historical artifacts; and
   1-24        WHEREAS, Since its founding 10 years ago, the museum has
   1-25  experienced steady growth, and it continues to expand with each
   1-26  passing year to keep pace with the increasing interest of Texans in
   1-27  the rich frontier heritage and spirit of the Lone Star State; and
   1-28        WHEREAS, The Texas State Museum of History has established a
   1-29  widespread reputation for excellence throughout the state for the
   1-30  valuable role it plays as a coordinating museum for more than 400
   1-31  museums in Texas and as a goodwill ambassador to museums outside
   1-32  the borders of the state; and
   1-33        WHEREAS, The museum also offers a unique program of education
   1-34  in its Children's Museum School and has expanded the knowledge and
   1-35  interest of many Texas schoolchildren in the history of their state
   1-36  through its active involvement in the public school system; and
   1-37        WHEREAS, For 10 years, the Texas State Museum of History has
   1-38  helped to preserve and showcase our state's legacy for many
   1-39  appreciative travelers, and it is indeed deserving of special
   1-40  recognition for its continuing contributions in this regard; now,
   1-41  therefore, be it
   1-42        RESOLVED, That the 73rd Legislature of the State of Texas
   1-43  hereby declare the Texas State Museum of History in Arlington the
   1-44  official state history museum of Texas and commend this fine
   1-45  institution for its exceptional efforts in sustaining the bountiful
   1-46  cultural and historical heritage of this state so that it may be
   1-47  enjoyed by generations of Texans to come; and, be it further
   1-48        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   1-49  prepared for the Texas State Museum of History as an expression of
   1-50  high regard by the Legislature of the State of Texas.
