H.C.R. No. 134 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, An adequate supply of domestic water is vital to the 1-2 needs of all Texans and is the foundation of rural economic 1-3 development; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Water suppliers in rural areas across the Lone Star 1-5 State have sought to meet this requirement and have developed and 1-6 provided a service that greatly enhances the quality of life for 1-7 countless Texans; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Recognizing that they could best meet the needs of 1-9 their members if they joined together to work for the common good, 1-10 a small group of rural water system leaders gathered in Austin in 1-11 1969 to form the Texas Association of Rural Water Supply 1-12 Corporations; and 1-13 WHEREAS, For the past 25 years this admirable organization, 1-14 now known as the Texas Rural Water Association, has diligently 1-15 worked to provide a high-quality potable water supply for rural 1-16 Texans; and 1-17 WHEREAS, It is most fitting that the Texas Legislature honor 1-18 this outstanding organization and the many rural water system 1-19 leaders who have capably served their neighbors and, in doing so, 1-20 have greatly enhanced economic development opportunities across the 1-21 state; now, therefore, be it 1-22 RESOLVED, That the 73rd Legislature of the State of Texas 1-23 hereby congratulate the Texas Rural Water Association on the 1-24 occasion of its 25th anniversary and designate January 14, 1994, as 2-1 Rural Water Day in Texas. 2-2 Rural Water Day in Texas. 2-3 Johnson 2-4 H.C.R.
