                                 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
    1-1        WHEREAS, The issuance of special license plates for use on
    1-2  private vehicles is a courtesy extended by the Texas Department of
    1-3  Transportation to various officials of Texas state government and
    1-4  of the federal government; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, To avoid proliferation of this practice and thereby
    1-6  prevent undue administrative costs, the 67th Legislature in the
    1-7  1981 regular session adopted Senate Concurrent Resolution 37, which
    1-8  specified which officials should be eligible to receive "State
    1-9  Official" license plates; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, The 71st Legislature, in its 1989 regular session,
   1-11  adopted Senate Concurrent Resolution 70, which directed the State
   1-12  Department of Highways and Public Transportation to issue "U.S.
   1-13  Congress" plates to members of the Texas delegation to the United
   1-14  States Senate and House of Representatives and to issue "U.S.
   1-15  Judge" plates to justices of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals,
   1-16  federal district judges, and federal bankruptcy judges residing in
   1-17  Texas; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, It is also in order for the legislature to expand
   1-19  its policy on the eligibility of federal-level officials for
   1-20  special license plates; now, therefore, be it
   1-21        RESOLVED, That the 73rd Legislature of the State of Texas
   1-22  hereby direct the Texas Department of Transportation to issue "U.S.
   1-23  Judge" plates to magistrates of the United States district courts;
   1-24  and, be it further
    2-1        RESOLVED, That the issuance of such special license plates be
    2-2  limited to two sets of plates for each official.
