Article VII of the Texas Constitution is amended 1-30 by adding Section 2A to read as follows: 1-31 Sec. 2A. The State of Texas hereby relinquishes and releases 1-32 any claim of sovereign ownership or title to an undivided one-third 1-33 interest in and to the lands and minerals within the Shelby, 1-34 Frazier, and McCormick League (now located in Fort Bend and Austin 1-35 counties) arising out of the interest in that league originally 1-36 granted under the Mexican Colonization Law of 1823 to John 1-37 McCormick on or about July 24, 1824, and subsequently voided by the 1-38 governing body of Austin's Original Colony on or about December 15, 1-39 1830, and title to such interest in the lands and minerals is 1-40 confirmed to the owners of the remaining interests in such lands 1-41 and minerals. This section is self-executing. 1-42 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be 1-43 submitted to the voters at an election to be held on November 2, 1-44 1993.
