                                  A JOINT RESOLUTION
    1-1  proposing a constitutional amendment to abolish the office of
    1-2  county surveyor in Jackson County.
    1-3        BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-4        SECTION 1.  Article XVI, Section 44, of the Texas
    1-5  Constitution is amended by adding Subsection (h) to read as
    1-6  follows:
    1-7        (h)  The office of County Surveyor in Jackson County is
    1-8  abolished.  The powers, duties, and functions of the office are
    1-9  transferred to the county officer or employee designated by the
   1-10  commissioners court, and the commissioners court may change its
   1-11  designation as it considers appropriate.
   1-12        SECTION 2.  This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
   1-13  submitted to the voters at an election to be held on November 2,
   1-14  1993.  The ballot shall be printed to provide for voting for or
   1-15  against the proposition:  "The constitutional amendment abolishing
   1-16  the office of county surveyor in Jackson County."
