No. 22 73R1596 LGF-F A JOINT RESOLUTION 1-1 proposing a constitutional amendment to abolish the office of 1-2 county surveyor in McLennan County. 1-3 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-4 SECTION 1. Article XVI, Section 44(e), of the Texas 1-5 Constitution is amended to read as follows: 1-6 (e) The office of County Surveyor in the counties of Denton, 1-7 Randall, Collin, Dallas, El Paso, McLennan, and Henderson is 1-8 abolished upon the approval of the abolition by a majority of the 1-9 qualified voters of the respective county voting on the question at 1-10 an election that the Commissioners Court of the county may call. 1-11 If the election is called, the Commissioners Court shall order the 1-12 ballot at the election to be printed to provide for voting for or 1-13 against the proposition: "Abolishing the office of county 1-14 surveyor." Each qualified voter of the county is entitled to vote 1-15 in the election. If the office of County Surveyor is abolished 1-16 under this subsection, the maps, field notes, and other records in 1-17 the custody of the County Surveyor are transferred to the County 1-18 Clerk of the county. After abolition, the Commissioners Court may 1-19 employ or contract with a qualified person to perform any of the 1-20 functions that would have been performed by the County Surveyor if 1-21 the office had not been abolished. 1-22 SECTION 2. This proposed amendment shall be submitted to the 1-23 voters at an election to be held on November 2, 1993. The ballot 1-24 shall be printed to provide for voting for or against the 2-1 proposition: "The constitutional amendment to abolish the office 2-2 of county surveyor in McLennan County."
