                                  A JOINT RESOLUTION
    1-1  proposing a constitutional amendment to impose term limits on
    1-2  executive and legislative officers of this state.
    1-3        BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-4        SECTION 1.  Article XVI of the Texas Constitution is amended
    1-5  by adding Section 30c to read as follows:
    1-6        Sec. 30c.  (a)  No person may be elected more than two times
    1-7  to the same office in the Executive Department of the State if the
    1-8  office is filled by statewide election.
    1-9        (b)  No person may serve longer than 12 years in the Texas
   1-10  Senate.
   1-11        (c)  No person may serve more than 12 years in the Texas
   1-12  House of Representatives.
   1-13        (d)  Election to executive office before January 1, 1993, is
   1-14  not considered for purposes of Subsection (a) of this section.
   1-15  Legislative service before the Legislature convened in regular
   1-16  session in 1993 is not considered for purposes of Subsections (b)
   1-17  and (c) of this section.
   1-18        SECTION 2.  This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
   1-19  submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 2, 1993.
   1-20  The ballot shall be printed to provide for voting for or against
   1-21  the proposition:  "The constitutional amendment to impose term
   1-22  limits on persons in the executive and legislative branches of
   1-23  state government."
