1-21 HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION
1-22 proposing a constitutional amendment authorizing the exemption from
1-23 ad valorem taxation of boats and other equipment used in the
1-24 commercial taking of fish, shrimp, shellfish, and other marine
1-25 life.
1-26 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-27 SECTION 1. Article VIII of the Texas Constitution is amended
1-28 by adding Section 19b to read as follows:
1-29 Sec. 19b. The legislature by general law may provide for the
1-30 exemption from ad valorem taxation of boats and other equipment
1-31 used primarily in the commercial taking of fish, shrimp, shellfish,
1-32 and other marine life.
1-33 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
1-34 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 2, 1993.
1-35 The ballot shall be printed to provide for voting for or against
1-36 the proposition: "The constitutional amendment authorizing the
1-37 legislature to exempt from ad valorem taxation boats and other
1-38 equipment used primarily in the commercial taking of fish, shrimp,
1-39 shellfish, and other marine life."
