A JOINT RESOLUTION
1-1 proposing a constitutional amendment to add the Texas State
1-2 Technical College System to certain constitutionally dedicated
1-3 funding for public institutions of higher education.
1-4 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Article VII, Section 17(b), of the Texas
1-6 Constitution is amended to read as follows:
1-7 (b) The funds appropriated under Subsection (a) of this
1-8 section shall be for the use of the following eligible agencies and
1-9 institutions of higher education (even though their names may be
1-10 changed):
1-11 (1) East Texas State University including East Texas
1-12 State University at Texarkana;
1-13 (2) Lamar University including Lamar University at
1-14 Orange and Lamar University at Port Arthur;
1-15 (3) Midwestern State University;
1-16 (4) North Texas State University;
1-17 (5) The University of Texas--Pan American <University>
1-18 including The University of Texas <Pan American University> at
1-19 Brownsville;
1-20 (6) Stephen F. Austin State University;
1-21 (7) Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine;
1-22 (8) Texas State University System Administration and
1-23 the following component institutions:
1-24 (9) Angelo State University;
2-1 (10) Sam Houston State University;
2-2 (11) Southwest Texas State University;
2-3 (12) Sul Ross State University including Uvalde
2-4 Study Center;
2-5 (13) Texas Southern University;
2-6 (14) Texas Tech University;
2-7 (15) Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center;
2-8 (16) Texas Woman's University;
2-9 (17) University of Houston System Administration and
2-10 the following component institutions:
2-11 (18) University of Houston<--University Park>;
2-12 (19) University of Houston--Victoria;
2-13 (20) University of Houston--Clear Lake;
2-14 (21) University of Houston--Downtown;
2-15 (22) <University System of South Texas System
2-16 Administration and the following component institutions:>
2-17 <(23)> Corpus Christi State University;
2-18 (23) <(24)> Laredo State University;
2-19 (24) <(25)> Texas A&I University; <and>
2-20 (25) <(26)> West Texas State University; and
2-21 (26) Texas State Technical College System including
2-22 its campuses and extension centers.
2-23 SECTION 2. The following temporary provision is added to the
2-24 Texas Constitution:
2-25 TEMPORARY PROVISION. (a) This temporary provision applies
2-26 to the constitutional amendment proposed by the 73rd Legislature,
2-27 Regular Session, 1993, to add the Texas State Technical College
3-1 System to certain constitutionally dedicated funding for public
3-2 institutions of higher education.
3-3 (b) Section 1 of the constitutional amendment takes effect
3-4 September 1, 1995.
3-5 (c) This temporary provision expires September 2, 1995.
3-6 SECTION 3. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
3-7 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 2, 1993.
3-8 The ballot shall be printed to provide for voting for or against
3-9 the proposition: "The constitutional amendment to add the Texas
3-10 State Technical College System to certain constitutionally
3-11 dedicated funding for public institutions of higher education."
