                                  A JOINT RESOLUTION
    1-1  proposing a constitutional amendment to authorize the legislature
    1-2  to grant ad valorem tax relief to wildlife land.
    1-3        BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-4        SECTION 1.  Article VIII of the Texas Constitution is amended
    1-5  by adding Section 1-l to read as follows:
    1-6        Sec. 1-l.  To promote the preservation of land in a natural
    1-7  state that is conducive to thriving populations of native animals
    1-8  and plants, the legislature by general law may provide for
    1-9  exemptions or other ad valorem tax relief for that land or may
   1-10  authorize local taxing units to grant exemptions or other ad
   1-11  valorem tax relief for that land.
   1-12        SECTION 2.  This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
   1-13  submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 2, 1993.
   1-14  The ballot shall be printed to provide for voting for or against
   1-15  the proposition:  "The constitutional amendment to authorize ad
   1-16  valorem tax relief for the preservation of land in a natural state
   1-17  that is conducive to thriving populations of native animals and
   1-18  plants."
