A JOINT RESOLUTION
1-1 proposing a constitutional amendment to authorize an increase in
1-2 the tax rate limit for rural fire prevention districts.
1-3 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-4 SECTION 1. Article III, Section 48-d, of the Texas
1-5 Constitution is amended to read as follows:
1-6 Sec. 48-d. The Legislature shall have the power to provide
1-7 for the establishment and creation of rural fire prevention
1-8 districts and to authorize a tax on the ad valorem property
1-9 situated in said districts not to exceed Five (5›) <Three (3›)>
1-10 Cents on the One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars valuation for the
1-11 support thereof; provided that no tax shall be levied in support of
1-12 said districts until approved by vote of the people residing
1-13 therein.
1-14 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
1-15 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 2, 1993.
1-16 The ballot shall be printed to provide for voting for or against
1-17 the proposition: "The constitutional amendment increasing the
1-18 maximum ad valorem tax rate of rural fire prevention districts from
1-19 three cents to five cents on each $100 of taxable value of
1-20 property."
