H.R. No. 1 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of James Robert Measley on March 14, 1-2 1992, has brought a great loss to the many friends and relatives of 1-3 this fine man; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A highly respected law enforcement officer, 1-5 Mr. Measley retired from his position as a state trooper in 1988, 1-6 drawing to a close a distinguished career in public service that 1-7 spanned a quarter of a century; and 1-8 WHEREAS, In recent years, this admirable gentleman dedicated 1-9 much of his time and talents toward helping others through his 1-10 strong support of the AIDS Mastery Program and his founding of the 1-11 Legacy Counseling Center; and 1-12 WHEREAS, James Measley was a caring and compassionate man 1-13 whose unique strength and spirit were a source of joy and comfort 1-14 to countless individuals; though his presence will be deeply missed 1-15 by all who knew him, the memory of his courage and zest for living 1-16 will long endure in the hearts of the many people whose lives he 1-17 touched during his time on this earth; now, therefore, be it 1-18 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 1-19 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of James Robert Measley 1-20 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his 1-21 longtime companion, Mike Vandewater; to his daughters, Janice Nolan 1-22 and Janie McKinney; to his five grandchildren; to his brothers and 1-23 sisters; and to his many other friends and relatives; and, be it 1-24 further 2-1 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared 2-2 for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of 2-3 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of James 2-4 Robert Measley. 2-5 Robert Measley. 2-6 Danburg 2-7 H.R.
