                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Tenaha High School football team enjoyed a
    1-2  highly successful season of University Interscholastic League (UIL)
    1-3  competition in 1992, compiling an outstanding 12-1 season record
    1-4  and closing out the season among the top Class  A teams in the
    1-5  state; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Posting an unblemished 10-0 record during the
    1-7  regular season, including a 5-0 mark against their district foes to
    1-8  claim the UIL District 21-A crown and a berth in the postseason
    1-9  playoffs, the Tigers had proven themselves worthy of their
   1-10  championship aspirations and justifiably set their sights on higher
   1-11  goals; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Drawing a bye in the first round of the playoffs,
   1-13  the Tigers were able to focus on the area championship game and
   1-14  their next opponent, a 5-4-1 team from Burkeville High School; in
   1-15  that contest, the Tigers were clearly the superior team, defeating
   1-16  the outmatched Burkeville squad 21-6 to win the area championship
   1-17  trophy; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, The Tigers' victory over Burkeville High School set
   1-19  up a showdown the following week against a tough Celeste High
   1-20  School team for the regional title; again, the Tigers demonstrated
   1-21  their superior talent and teamwork as they prevailed over Celeste
   1-22  20-12 to claim the UIL Class A Region III championship and advance
   1-23  to the state quarterfinals; and
   1-24        WHEREAS, Although they fell short of their ultimate goal,
    2-1  losing to Valley View High School in a hard-fought quarterfinal
    2-2  match to end their season with a 12-1 mark, the Tenaha Tigers
    2-3  nevertheless can look back with undiminished pride on the enviable
    2-4  record of success they achieved during the 1992  gridiron campaign;
    2-5  and
    2-6        WHEREAS, Highlighted by exceptional team and individual
    2-7  performances throughout the year, the Tenaha Tigers' success during
    2-8  this truly memorable season is a tribute to the hard work and the
    2-9  selfless dedication to the team's  goals demonstrated by every
   2-10  member of the squad:  Kevin Bush, Ray Robertson, Stacy Thompson,
   2-11  Joey Latham, Robert Gray, Anthony Robertson, Willie Pipkin, Darrell
   2-12  Robertson, Chregg Henderson, Cochise Calloway, Shone Thomas, Robert
   2-13  Bowden, Cornelius Gray, Chris Evans, Ken McClure, Bronson Holmes,
   2-14  Mac McCrory, Lee Baker, Gabe Owens, Mike Scruggs, Leslie Hicks,
   2-15  Korey McClure, Kevin Parker, Spencer Crawford, Jacob Martin, Chass
   2-16  Gregory, Scott Olliff, Chad Sherrod, Patrick Porter,  David Barton,
   2-17  Marcus Horton, Robert  Gray, Freeman Thomas, Howard Williams, and
   2-18  Bobby Williams; and
   2-19        WHEREAS, The success of the team also is attributable to the
   2-20  superb leadership and guidance provided by Tenaha High School
   2-21  athletic director and head football coach Raymond Jackson and his
   2-22  staff of dedicated assistants, Larry Williams, Ray Jackson, Clark
   2-23  Partin, and Mike Ramsey, who molded this outstanding assembly of
   2-24  football talent into a championship-caliber unit; and
   2-25        WHEREAS, Together with their coaches, these young men have
   2-26  been a source of great pride for the students and faculty at Tenaha
   2-27  High School and for their many loyal supporters throughout the
    3-1  community, and their noteworthy achievements truly merit special
    3-2  praise and recognition; now, therefore, be it
    3-3        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    3-4  Legislature hereby congratulate the Tenaha High School Tigers on
    3-5  their unblemished 10-0 record during the 1992 regular season and on
    3-6  their impressive postseason achievements in winning UIL district,
    3-7  bi-district, area, and regional championships; and, be it further
    3-8        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    3-9  prepared for the members of the team and the coaching staff of the
   3-10  Tenaha Tigers as an expression of high esteem by the Texas House of
   3-11  Representatives.
